What a great turn out to closing day, 18 seniors and 10 juniors on the water. A beautiful SW breeze with sunny skies made for a perfect sailing day. The HC Smart cup for the seniors was taken out by Richie Fisher and the Nesbit Junior cup by Charlotte Palmer who is fresh from Green Fleet and had an awesome sail. It was suggested, tongue in cheek, at prize giving that we need a new Purple Development Fleet for the Flying Fifteens as Hec and Lee tried flying their spinnaker upside down, Neil went for an alternative approach finishing the race with his flapping around half under the boat. But Jeff took the cake when he tried mooring himself to inner start mark (during a start sequence) then making an untimely exit leaving Kim on her own! She deftly manoeuvred into an excellent position while Jeff was duly rescued and deposited back on board. The parents in optis race was as always hotly contested and won this year with a great performance from Brett Willcock.
Thanks to Rebecca for the April 16 newsletter, now posted under news and events. We look forward to seeing you all at the AGM/prize giving later this year and of course the working bees, bring your skills and learn some new ones, they’re a good social event.
