Race without stop and unassisted: the Vendée Globe.
We are all focused on competing, results, winning, going faster, …. but sometimes a huge
sporting loss can be transformed into a massive history.
Sébastien Destremau was born in 1964 in Brittany, France. Professional sailor and sports
journalist, he lives the sea as much as he tells it.
His sailor cap is adorned with five America’s Cup campaigns, an Olympic adventure,
participation in the Volvo Ocean Race, three European titles and six world titles. Since 2012,
he has also been running a virtual journal on the Virtual Regatta application with millions of
views.
He recounts this human adventure in “Alone in the World: 124 Days in the Hell of the Vendée
Globe” (XO Éditions, 2017; Pocket, 2018).
With his experience, he leads numerous conferences on motivation, resilience, and even
surpassing oneself.
Currently with his boat under repair in Lyttelton, and following a great night at Naval Point,
Sebastien has agreed to speak of his trips at the Charteris Bay Yacht Club.
A Koha towards his repairs is requested and appreciated.Bring a friend – spread the word, All
